TASHA LORENZEN-EWING

Mentor

Tasha (she/her) is a Black queer lawyer working as in-house legal counsel for the Hospital Employees’ Union. Tasha obtained her Juris Doctor from Thompson Rivers University in 2021. During her time at TRU, she was a Programs Manager for Pro Bono Students Canada (PBSC), participated in the TRU Community Legal Clinic, and was President of the Black Law Students’ Association (BLSA). As President of BLSA, she worked alongside other equity-seeking groups to push for progressive change at TRU law.

Prior to law school, Tasha earned her Master’s in Gerontology and worked with seniors in the non-profit sector, where her passion for public interest work grew. Tasha currently sits on the PBSC Advisory Board, is the secretary for the BC Chapter of the Canadian Association of Black Lawyers, sits on the Canadian Bar Association’s BC Elder Law Section Executive, and is involved in the Sexual and Gender Diversity Alliance Section. Tasha’s new public interest and access to justice initiatives includes volunteer work with Level’s Indigenous Youth Outreach Program, an Indigenous youth justice education and mentorship program, and she is developing her skills in supporting trans and non-binary communities.
