VERUKAH POIRIER

Program Facilitator - Vancouver

Verukah is a third year law student at the Peter A. Allard School of Law. She was born in Williams Lake, BC, but her family is from Treaty 6. While at law school, Verukah worked as the Indigenous Legal Studies Programs Assistant and the Indigenous Legal Studies Summer Intensive in Tort Law Mentorship Coordinator. She has been an active participant in the Indigenous Law Students Association and a Centre for Feminist Legal Studies Scholarship winner. Prior to attending the Peter A. Allard School of Law, Verukah attended UBC for her Bachelor of Arts, majoring in First Nations and Indigenous Studies. 

Outside of law school, Verukah is a mother, youth in care advocate and Gladue Report Writer for the BC First Nations Justice Council. In her spare time, Verukah loves to bead and enjoys teaching other Indigenous youth in care beading. When she isnt beading, she can be found at the beach with her young daughter.
