SHAHENE PATEL

Shahene Patel is currently an IPC Student at Beamish Law as well as a third-year law student at the Lincoln Alexander School of Law at Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU). She is a government relations specialist and experienced policy analyst who came to law school to advocate for fairness, equality, and equity through the law. Shahene cares about advancing human rights and social justice issues in an effort to address access to justice problems.
Shahene has worked at the federal and provincial levels of government, the not-for-profit sphere and the private sector. Throughout law school, Shahene has had the pleasure of working with TMU’s Human Rights Services, where her research impacted human rights complaints within the University.
Before coming to law school, Shahene spent three years at the Toronto International Film Festival as Senior Coordinator of Government Relations. Shahene holds a BA from the University of Toronto in Political Science and English Literature. She also holds an MA in Global Governance from the University of Waterloo, where her research focused on water governance in the Middle East and North Africa.
When she isn't studying or working, Shahene enjoys watching movies, cooking for loved ones, and Muay Thai.
