On January 21st, the Level Team launched our first-ever Indigenous Youth Outreach Program delivery in Thunder Bay. Over 40 members of the Thunder Bay community attended, including a large contingent of law students from the Bora Laskin Faculty of Law at Lakehead University.

Level chatted with a number of Canadian legal professionals who’ve taken unique routes in their career paths to creating positive change. Follow along to hear from three inspiring professionals who remind us of the diverse ways you can change the world with a legal education.

This year, 15 legal experts have offered to share their time and wisdom mentoring 47 motivated law students. We’d like to introduce you to a few of our 2018-19 Mentors, and invite you to stay tuned for more updates on this exciting program.

Level is a recipient of a Law Foundation of Ontario (LFO) grant in the amount of $71,250 through the LFO's three year Catalyst Grant Program. The funds will be used to further empower Indigenous youth across Ontario through Level's Indigenous Youth Outreach Program (IYOP).

The Indigenous Youth Justice Toolkit is a resource for Indigenous youth to navigate the justice system that incorporates traditional teachings and youth artwork.

After months of hard work assessing and and tweaking the program based on feedback from our student mentees and legal professional mentors, we are excited to announce that our 2018-2019 Blazing Trails Mentorship Program is now open for applications!

In 2016, the Liberal Ontario government unveiled an updated curriculum that would include Indigenous history for elementary and secondary schools. The program was considered a step forward both in the province’s education system and their commitment to reconciliation.
