Meet Level's New Social Justice Program Manager, Fatima Ahmed!

Dear Friends of Level,

The wait is over! Level is thrilled to announce the appointment of our new Social Justice Program Manager, Fatima Ahmed, effective May 30, 2022.

Fatima is a Pakistani-Canadian immigrant, lawyer, and social justice advocate. She is passionate about promoting human rights, immigrant and refugee rights, as well as advocating for intersectional feminist approaches. She obtained her undergraduate degree in English Literature from the University of British Columbia. She also completed law school at the University of Windsor, where she earned the Windsor Law Equity and Diversity Award as well as the JW Whiteside Award in 2020 for contributions to the community. She has also been a recipient of the Social Justice Fellowship in 2019, allowing her to work with the United Nations High Commission for Refugees in Toronto. She is currently working on her Master of Law degree at Osgoode Hall Law School.

Fatima’s passion for social justice has enabled her to work in different areas over the years, including human rights law, immigration, and refugee law, as well as legal education. She aims to continue working collaboratively and respectfully with marginalized communities to promote equity and access to justice. Fatima also greatly enjoys reading, painting, and tea-drinking.

We are confident that Fatima's passion and expertise in human rights and social justice will create impactful and responsive programming that fosters emotional intelligence in the legal profession, meaningful mentorship opportunities, and a diverse legal profession which meets the wide-ranging needs of Canadians. We look forward to her leadership.

Level's team, Board and I will continue to support Fatima during her orientation to Level and welcome you to reach out if you have any questions.

Please also feel free to join us in welcoming Fatima to our team - fatima@leveljustice.org.

Sincerely,

Shelan Markus
