About BYJP

The BYJP offers culturally relevant justice education that increases students' knowledge of the justice system, builds positive relations between Black youth and the legal sector, imparts important leadership skills,  and sparks interest in legal careers.

The BYJP aims to:

  • Engage Black youth in exciting and collaborative justice-based activities

  • Create meaningful relationships between Black youth and the Canadian justice system

  • Inspire Black youth to explore legal sector careers and enhance diversity in law

  • Increase a sense of belonging and support in the justice sector

  • Build the confidence, critical thinking, and leadership skills of Black youth

BYJP is rooted in building trust, acknowledging harms, as well as imagining alternative and equitable justice systems.
