NIKISHA THAPAR

Fellow

Nikisha graduated with a B.A. in Gender and Social Justice Studies from Trent University in 2021. During her time at Trent, she served as a Guide for her university's Rebound Program for students facing academic challenges, and as an Equality Commissioner within her university's student government.

Currently pursuing her legal education at Western Law with an expected 2024 graduation, Nikisha is deeply committed to social justice. She actively engages in various equality and access to justice initiatives, including working with Atlohsa Family Healing Services through Pro Bono Students Canada and serving as a Justice Education Fellow with the Ontario Justice Education Network (OJEN), where she delivered several public legal education workshops in areas of law such as Access to Justice and Alternative Dispute Resolution.

Last summer, Nikisha continued her impactful work with OJEN as a Project Officer, contributing to the design and execution of public legal education projects for Black and Indigenous youth and young parents. She also gained valuable experience at a boutique human rights firm, focusing on human rights class actions related to issues like racial discrimination in hiring.

Nikisha is excited to work with Level Justice as Social Justice Fellow this year and to help further their mission of furthering equitable access to our justice system for all.
